BBQ Pulled Pork / Barbecue Sauce

Pulled pork is such a classic comfort food, and making it in the slow cooker is a foolproof way to achieve truly tender, succulent meat.
The following yields approximately 3 cups of sauce.


  • 1 3/4 c ketchup if possible use ketchup without corn syrup. Less is more when it comes to the ingredient list.
  • 1/2 c apple cider vinegar
  • 3 T water
  • 1 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 T dijon mustard
  • 1/2 t paprika
  • 1/4 t cayenne pepper
  • pinch of black pepper
  • 1 T pure maple syrup optional
    * Note: I am NOT talking about your pancake syrup. I’m talking pure, 100% maple syrup. Not Mrs. Butterworth’s 😉


  1. Combine all ingredients into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat until slightly thickened. About 3-5 minutes.
