Local Grass-Fed Beef Farm in Lynden, WA

Our Story: How Oostema Wagyu Became a Local Grass-Fed Beef Farm in Lynden, WA

Every great meal has a story, and at Oostema Wagyu, that story begins on a quiet piece of land in Lynden, Washington.

If you’ve ever found yourself typing “local beef near me” or “grass fed beef Bellingham WA” into a search bar, you’re already on a journey for something special. You’re looking for more than just meat; you’re looking for a connection to where your food comes from.

For us, that journey started years ago, rooted in the rich agricultural heritage of Whatcom County. Our family has always worked this land, learning how to care for animals and building a life that honors the traditions of farming.

We didn’t set out to build a big brand. We set out to be good farmers.

From Local Land to Local Beef

Lynden has always been home. Surrounded by fields, with mountains in the distance, and a community that still values hard work, it felt natural to raise our animals here. Over time, we realized something important: people were hungry not just for beef, but for beef they could trust.

They wanted to know:

  • Who raised the cattle?
  • How were they treated?
  • What did they eat?

So we made a decision: we would focus on quality over quantity and raise beef the way we believed it should be raised, on grass, with space, care, and respect.

That’s how Oostema Wagyu was born.

Why We Chose Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished

We chose to specialize in grass-fed, grass-finished Wagyu and Angus beef because it aligned with our values:

  • Let cattle graze on lush pasture in Lynden.
  • Keep them grass-fed for life, not just at the beginning.
  • Raise them with as little stress and as much care as possible.

That approach takes more time and more effort, but we believe the results are worth it for the animals, the land, and for the families who sit down to enjoy our beef in Lynden, Bellingham, and Skagit County.

From Our Family to Yours

Today, when you choose Oostema Wagyu, you’re not buying anonymous meat from a distant feedlot. You’re buying beef raised by a family who walks the same fields every day and knows every pasture by heart.

From our farm in Lynden, WA to your table, we’re honored to share our story and our beef with you.

From our house to yours, “eet smakelijk” is Dutch for “enjoying your meal.”
